Everyday is a good day to gift wine, but around the holidays, it’s especially wonderful.

Whether you’re looking for a gift for the wine-loving person in your life or making the holiday party rounds and want to show up with a bottle that’s truly special, we have you covered with a wide selection of wine–both local varieties, as well as wines from all over the world.

For this season, here’s a list of our top seven wine picks for connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike.

1. The Antlers Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

  • Region: United States / Colorado / Steamboat Springs
  • Pairs well with beef, lamb, portobello mushrooms, mature and hard cheeses

Originating right here in Steamboat Springs, The Antlers Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is bold and elegantly balanced with flavors of black cherry, black currant, plum, dark chocolate, and a hint of violet. It’s aged in French Oak for 22 months and designed for enjoying now as well as being worthy of cellaring. Highly rated and beautifully expressive, this wine’s memorable taste and sumptuous texture is sure to be a hit for any occasion.

2. Flowers Pinot Noir

  • Region: United States / California / North Coast / Sonoma County / Sonoma Coast
  • Alcohol content: 13.9%
  • Pairs well with beef, veal, venison, poultry

The decadent Flowers Pinot Noir is a favorite among wine lovers and for good reason. Featuring red fruit notes, including cherry, raspberry, and strawberry, coupled with oaky notes with hints of vanilla and cola. It’s a beautiful, earthy wine with smooth, silky tannins, medium acidity, and a pin drop of minerality on the finish–perfect for dinner.

3. Frank Family Lewis Vineyard Reserve Chardonnay

  • Region: United States / California / North Coast / Napa County / Napa Valley / Los Carneros
  • Alcohol content: 14.5%
  • Pairs well with pork, fish, poultry, vegetarian meals

We hear it time and time again; chardonnay lovers are obsessed with this Reserve Chardonnay, and frankly, we are too. It’s smooth, buttery oak notes, coupled with crisp pear, apple, and citrus make it a standout favorite. Rounding off the finish is a hint of honeycomb and vanilla pudding with the tiniest hint of acidity.

4. Dow’s Vintage Port

  • Region: Portugal / Duriense / Porto
  • Alcohol content: 20%
  • Pairs well with mature and hard cheeses, beef

In true Bomfim fashion, Dow’s Vintage Port is characteristically floral and aromatic with hints of mint and blackberries. Its dry finish is a welcome ending, considering it’s luscious overtones of chocolate, espresso, mocha, and fig. As you’d imagine, it’s syrupy consistency makes it a special pour, but it’s still often a fan favorite at any gathering.

5. Luca Malbec

  • Region: Argentina / Mendoza
  • Alcohol content: 13.5%
  • Pairs well with beef, lamb, poultry

The sometimes-difficult-to-find Luca Malbec is incredibly balanced and full of dark fruits with hints of spice and dark chocolate. Its bold flavor is best paired with a hearty or spicy meal that can hold its own. Featuring a medium finish with smooth, round tannins and slight acidity, this wine is an easy crowd pleaser with a distinct taste.

6. Ovum Off the Grid Riesling

  • Region: United States / Oregon
  • Alcohol content: 12.5%
  • Pairs well with cured meats, seafood, pork, shellfish, poultry

A Riesling…from Oregon? Yes, it’s true. While we will always adore our German varieties, the Ovum Off the Grid Riesling is incredibly special and a must-try this season. Featuring citrus notes with honey, minerals, and crisp green apple, this intense combination strikes a fine balance of flavor without sweetness that feels over the top. Even the pickiest of wine drinkers who hesitate with rieslings tend to give this particular variety a 10 out of 10.

7. Duckhorn Napa Valley Merlot

  • Region: United States / California / North Coast / Napa County / Napa Valley
  • Alcohol content: 14.5%
  • Pairs well with beef, lamb, veal

Rounding out our list is the Duckhorn Napa Valley Merlot. The unique and distinct taste of this rich, red wine is truly memorable and enjoyable. It’s red fruits and spice forward, with notes of vanilla, plum, and stone. If you’re looking for a tried and true hearty-meal favorite, this rich wine won’t let you down.
