A Personal Note from the Owners of WildPlum

Steamboat, CO

Hi, my name is Kori, and I’m a co-owner of WildPlum alongside my husband Barry. In 2018, we finally realized our dream of moving to the mountains. This is the story of how we decided to make a drastic life change and move to the idyllic town of Steamboat, CO. I can’t fully capture in words how fulfilling that change was for us, but I’m going to try!

If you have ever been to a mountain town like Steamboat, you know the allure of living in a mountain vacation town. The air is crisp. The mountain views are like something from a postcard. The people are friendly and outgoing. You almost have to pinch yourself every moment you’re here just to make sure you aren’t dreaming.

Elevated Goodness: A Way of Life

Living in an atmosphere of elevated goodness, like we’ve curated as a culture of excellence within WildPlum, has always been the way we wanted to live every day – not just when we’re on vacation!

So our plan was to move toward living and working in the mountains full time, but at first, we were unsure where to plant our long term roots.

A few years ago, Barry and I packed up the car for an epic road trip to visit several mountain towns in western Colorado. We were on a pilgrimage*, and our goal was to find our forever home. Our list was simple, but not all towns fit the bill.

Kori and Barry’s Mountain Town Must-Have Checklist

  • Great downhill skiing
  • A robust community beyond the ski resort
  • Economic opportunity (because we tend to be business and entrepreneurial-minded)

Steamboat, CO met all of these criteria and many more that we had not considered. For example, there is a  well established but still growing arts community here. Everyone in town is a dog person (we have a sweet four-legged companion, Maddie) and there are the most stunning dog parks here – like this one.

Even more, you can buy a new wardrobe, furnish your home, and have a world-class dinner all within the space of a few blocks. We also soon found that people who live in Steamboat are down to earth, educated, and well-traveled, so they know what a gem this place is.

Your Mountain Town Pilgrimage

*A pilgrimage is a journey, often into an unknown or foreign place, where a person goes in search of new or expanded meaning about themselves, others, nature, or a higher good, through the experience”. (Wikipedia)

What started out as a pilgrimage for us turned into a manifestation of our life’s purpose. Barry and I have never been happier. So what are you waiting for? Start planning your pilgrimage now. Who knows, you could be moving in next to us in the near future!

Now is one of the best times to visit Steamboat, CO. Skiing is great, but the summer here is absolutely divine. And when you get here be sure to stop by WildPlum Eatery | Grocer | Spirits for some elevated goodness, located just a stone’s throw from the Steamboat Ski Resort. Even better, we can deliver groceries and your favorite spirits and have your condo or Air-BnB ready and fully-stocked upon your arrival. Yes, you read that correctly, we take our craft seriously here at WildPlum.

Get Your Goodness Delivered

PS This mountain town has so much to offer, so naturally we couldn’t cover it all in one letter. Keep a lookout for more about Steamboat in the next few months.

See You Soon,

Kori
